Event to Honor and Remember Student Scheduled
Drake Walker, a student at Ruth Doyle Middle School, passed away this past fall in a tragic drowning accident. Since then, his friends and family have been raising money for The Drake Walker Memorial Foundation. On June 1st the first annual Walker-thon in memory of Drake Walker will take place at the high school track. Registration will be from 8:30-9:00 with the event taking place from 10-12,. Individuals are encouraged to raise at least $25.00 with all proceeds going to the foundation. Those who raise at least $25.00 will receive a tshirt and wristband. Now Taking NominationsPATHSS, Parents and Teachers Helping Student Succeed, is the BCMS parent teacher organization. This group works to provide opportunities for our students throughout the year at BCMS. BCMS Camp Dates SetBCMS will hold an introduction to BCMS for all incoming 5th grade students on Tuesday, August 6th. This is always a good time for students to become familiar with the building in an informal atmosphere.
Ten Marks Summer Math ProgramTenMarks is an adaptive, online math practice program for Grades 1-11, and is free for schools. We have teachers in the AFESC area who use TenMarks for remediation and enrichment in their classrooms and love it.

We are so proud of Bob Courtway's very own Dr. Karen Lasker and her accomplishment in receiving her Ed.D from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Way to go Dr. Lasker!
Sheila Brooks named BCMS Teacher of the Year
Sheila Brooks has been teaching instrumental music for 33 years, and has been a band director at Bob Courtway Middle School for the last eight years. Mrs. Brooks is a National Board Certified Teacher who has served on the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Executive Board- serving as President of ASBOA in 2010-2011. Mrs. Brooks has also served as the President of Arkansas Women Band Directors Association. She is married to Dr. Ricky Brooks who is the Director of Bands at UCA and they have three children- Aaron, Scott, and Mallory. They attend Friendship Baptist Church where Mrs. Brooks plays in the handbell choir, sings in the adult choir, and works with AWANAs. Mrs. Brooks also enjoys playing flute with the Conway Cummunity Band during the spring/summer performance season. At BCMS, Mrs. Brooks currently teaches beginning flutes, clarinets, and saxophones and teaches the 7th grade woodwinds. In addition, Mrs. Brooks is the Director of the 8th Grade Blue Band at Conway Jr. High School.
